New Clear Function logo and website
As you can see we’ve got a brand new website that’s just gone live today. The new website not only gives us a new look, but also a fresh start in the life of clearfunction.com and the information we provide.
More prominent blog/articles
With the new design, we decided to put more emphasis on the blog/articles by placing them on the homepage. Now you maybe wondering why we’re putting more emphasis on blog articles that averaged about once every other month in the past. And to that we would embarrassingly concede. But, as of today we are making it a new goal to write more often and have more quality articles ranging from web development to business theory and more. (More on this in the coming days/weeks.)
We’ve also added a Tumblelog of sorts on the left side of the homepage. This will allow us to post quick bits of information about us or links we’ve found on the internet. We’re on the internet for the majority of our day, so hopefully we’ll have some fun links for your viewing pleasure.
New website
In addition to placing more emphasis on the blog, we’ve also refined our website’s look and feel. One of the first things you’ll notice is that we’ve gone to a much wider (3-column) layout. This is something that a lot of websites are doing these days and for good reason. With larger and higher resolution screens popping up every day, the extra real estate provides opportunities for more interesting and rich content layouts.
We’ve also moved our website from a PHP based/WordPress blog into our very own Ruby on Rails based content management system, Reflect. We’ve kept kind of quiet about Reflect before now, but in the coming weeks/months we’ll be giving more information about it’s development and the plans we have for it.
New logo
With the new website, we’ve also rolled out a new logo. Although our old logo was sufficient, we were never very happy with it. With the new logo, we wanted something that looked good in various contexts (print & web) as well as scaled in size better. With a name like Clear Function, the ideal logo is for it to communicate just that. We believe the new logo does the job.
RSS feeds and newsletter signup
We also want to bring your attention to our new RSS feed. For those of you already subscribed to our previous feed through Feedburner.com, you should already be getting the new feed. If not, just click on the “Grab our RSS feed” button on the right. The main feed is a blend of both the Tumblelog and main Blog entries.
Also, we’re going to start putting out a more consistent newsletter. So if you prefer to simply get occasional updates through email, simply enter your below:
We hope you enjoy our new website and stay tuned for better, more frequent articles!
